Regarding Tax filling against demand

Hi all, I have received below mail, I have paid entire demand amount. How should I reply or what action to be taken here

Kindly refer to the intimation u/s 143(1) dated 6-Aug-26.

As per the income-tax return filed for the AY 2026-27, it is seen that the details of Self Assessment tax payment have not been provided in Schedule IT. Accordingly, the return has been processed, resulting in a demand. The details of demand are available in the above-mentioned intimation.

Since the credit for payment of Self Assessment Tax is available, kindly submit a rectification request with the claim of this Tax payment made. Please ensure the tax payment details are furnished in Schedule IT in the rectification.

To submit a rectification request, please log in to www.incometax.gov.in using your user ID & Password. Thereafter, Click on “Services” tab >> Drop down will show “Rectification” >> Click on “Rectification” >>Click on “+New Request”.

Kindly ignore the communication if you have already filed a revised/rectification request, claiming all Tax payments made in Schedule IT.

If the entire demand has already been paid, the next step should be to verify whether the payment has been correctly reflected against the relevant assessment year. In the situation described, the issue appears to be that the Self Assessment Tax payment was not reported in Schedule IT while filing the return. A rectification request can be submitted through the Income Tax e-Filing portal, with the tax payment details included in the relevant schedule.

It is also worth keeping the challan and payment details available for reference. If the demand has already been paid and a rectification request has been submitted, the communication can generally be treated accordingly rather than making another payment. The portal provides a facility to view outstanding demands and previous responses.
