Capital Gains Account - Adding CGAS bank account to ITR2 - Validation Defect A

I am receiving an error on validating my ITR2 in the income tax portal. It is a category defect A and not allowing me to upload my return.

The error is in the CGAS Bank account type mismatch. I have added the appropriate bank account to the website as a Savings account since there is no category type for CGAS.

Error: “CGAS Bank account details is not added in or not matching with Bank Details in Schedule Part A General, with account type being CGAS”

"Suggestion: “Please add correct CGAS Bank Account details in schedule Part A General”

Has anyone faced this issue before ? How do i go about fixing this ? Is the CGAS bank account type supposed to be some other type than Savings?

Thanks

@TeamQuicko any pointers on this issue ?

The resolution i found for this problem was to file using the offline utility, there is a separate option for ‘CGAS’ there . The online tool simply doesn’t allow it

Thanks

Hi @murali000,

Yes, you can file it using the offline utility under the option CGAS. We are sorry for the late reply!

Adding a Capital Gains Account (CGAS) bank account to ITR-2 can cause Validation Defect A if details are incorrect. Ensure accurate bank details to avoid errors during filing.
