I have a query. I held shares of Tata motors in last FY. The holding period was more than a year. Last year on demerger of Tata motors into TMCV and TMPV, I was allotted shares in proportion to my holdings. I sold few TMCV shares last year. My broker has shown it as LTCG. However my AIS reflects it as short term gain.
How do I resolve this issue. How should the gain be taxed and offered in ITR this year. Kindly help.
