How to file your ITR on income tax portal using Quicko JSON?

Some of you may have income situations that aren’t fully covered within Quicko’s product today. In such cases, you can still prepare your return on Quicko, download the ITR JSON file, and then upload it on the Income Tax Department (ITD) utility to add the remaining details and file your return.

This way, Quicko does the heavy lifting for most of your return, and the ITD portal helps you complete the rest. Here’s a step-by-step guide to take your Quicko JSON and finish filing on the income tax utilities.

Once you’ve the Quicko-generated ITR JSON saved on your computer, follow these steps.

  1. Visit the downloads section of e-filing portal and download the common offline utility. If you’re using Mac, there’s a separate utility for that below.

  1. Once downloaded, install the utility and open it. You will see the below screen, click on “Continue”

  1. Click on “File Return”

  1. Select the third option of “Import draft ITR filled in Online mode or import JSON generated from Excel/HTML utility” and click on Continue

  1. Click on “Attach File” button, upload the JSON file generated from Quicko and then the portal will validate the file.

  1. After successful validation, click on “Proceed”

  1. On this screen, you need to add the applicable schedules for any additional details you would like to add in your return. Then click on “Continue”

  1. Click on “Continue” again

  1. Answer all the schedule questions here and click on “Continue”

  1. Add and verify your details here in each of these cards and then click on “Proceed to Verification” button in the bottom

  1. Preview and submit your return by clicking on “Proceed to Validation”

  1. Click on Preview and you will see a preview of your income tax return on the next screen (refer to the 2nd image below)

Here’s a step by step guide on how to upload JSON and file your ITR on the online portal.

  1. Now click on “Proceed to Validation” > enter your login credentials on next screen > e-file your return.
