Form 10-IEA is a declaration you need to submit if you want to opt in or out of the new tax regime under Section 115BAC of the income tax act.

Alright, let’s get into the steps to verify Form 10-IEA details. There are two ways to do it:
Method 1: Download Form 10-IEA receipt from the income tax portal.
- Log in to the e-filing portal
- Navigate to e-File > Income Tax Forms > View Filed Forms
- Search for *Form 10-IEA
- Click on Download Receipt
You’ll find all the details you need here including the acknowledgement number of Form 10-IEA, which is required when filing your ITR.
Method 2: Checking last year’s ITR form
- Go to e-File > Income Tax Returns > View Filed Returns
- Download last year’s ITR-3/4 form by clicking on the “Download Form” button

Open the form you just downloaded

On the first page, look for “Acknowledgement number of form 10-IEA” under field (A19)(aii)(b)
Here’s you will find the acknowledgement number of the Form 10-IEA you had filed last year.
In case acknowledgement number field is empty here, it’s likely you’d filed under the new regime in AY 2024-25 and didn’t need to submit Form 10-IEA at all. In this case, the answer to “Have you exercised the option u/s 115BAC(6) of Opting out of new tax regime?” will be marked as “No.”
