There is a news in TOI News paper dated 10th Nov 23 from Madras high Court ruling regarding income tax on interest earned from cooperative bank deposits and it says that interest earned through deposits in cooperative banks will be exempted from income-tax as it falls under definition of a co-operative society for the purpose. And wheather this is applicable for saving account interest or FD interest or both.
