I am filling ITR for FY2021-22. My employer has not paid 3 months’ salary for FY2021-22 and one month’s salary for FY2021-22 was paid in the month of May 2022 (FY2022-23).
- Do I need to show the pending salary of FY2021-22 in the Income section or not?
2." one month’s salary for FY2021-22 was paid in the month of May 2022 (FY2022-23)"
Do I need to show this salary as the previous year income while filing ITR or show it in next year’s ITR filling?
Hey @Bharti_Vasvani can you please help here
Hello @Ayush_Sharma,
There are two options in your case:
-
As per accrual concept, as your salary has accrued you can report Salary for the whole year as income and pay tax if you’re assured that your employer will pay the salary and not forfeit the same.
-
Alternatively, you can report salary for 9 months (including for one month that you have received in May 2022) and remaining salary you can report in the financial year in which you actually receive the amount and report the same as arrears of salary in the income tax return.
Hope this helps!
