Tax Liability on Foreign company paying salary to my Indian bank

Hi,

I have employed with Qatar based company and I travel to Qatar every alternative months, but does not hold resident premit in Qatar.
My Qatar company pay me the salary to my indian bank account and no Taxes are deducted.

Now, Should I ignore this income and file ITR only for my other income ?
or should I pay tax for this salary and file ITR ?

Hi @sudha_sakthivel

Any income earned outside India but received in India is taxable for a resident of India.
Hence, it is advisable to pay tax on such an income and file your ITR in order to stay tax compliant!

Hope this helps.

Hi @Jade

Since you have only salary income received in your Indian bank account, and no taxes have been deducted from the foreign company, you would need to file ITR-1.

Here’s how you can prepare and e-File your ITR on Quicko.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for you reply.
Seems country of my employer does not have any taxes for my income. Still do I need to pay taxes ?
Also they have transferred to my NRE bank account and not to my savings account. Will that be any difference or exemptions in paying taxes ?

Hi @sudha_sakthivel

Global income to a resident of India is taxable. Hence, even if you receive payment in the NRE account, it is taxable as per the Indian Income Tax laws.
