I have tried to look for this at multiple places, but unable to find a satisfying answer.
The query is:
Suppose I trade intraday in RELIANCE, IDEA intraday.
(+x @ y means bought x shares at price y)
Date: 2024/01/01 → RELIANCE trades:
+5 @ 100
-2 @ 90
+1 @ 125
-4 @ 130
Date: 2024/01/01 → IDEA trades:
+4 @ 50
-1 @ 51
+2 @ 55
-5 @ 45
Date: 2024/01/02 → RELIANCE trades:
+10 @ 120
-4 @ 95
+3 @ 99
-9 @ 100
Date: 2024/01/02 → IDEA trades:
+1 @ 41
-1 @ 43
+2 @ 51
-2 @ 53
These are the trades in each scrip on each date.
The methodology I found was that the turnover can be calculated on a scrip-wise or a trade-wise basis.
Now my first question is, how can two different numbers be reported as the turnover? Suppose one says 100Cr and another says 1Cr, which will be taken and why?
Second question is, that in scripwise method, do I take the summation of daily profits/losses or the final summation of profits and losses over the whole financial year?
Please let me know the answer to the above questions and kindly use the above trades if you are giving an example.
Thanks!
